The West Block: The reality of diplomacy in a charged-up, politically volatile world
Description
December 29, 2024
A diplomat's job is a delicate and challenging. It's also one that happens mainly behind closed doors. On this holiday episode of ‘The West Block’, we look behind the curtain at what that role entails, starting with Britain's Deputy High Commissioner to Canada. David Prodger reveals the reality of global diplomacy in today's highly charged political environment. Later, we explore the wildly successful series about British and American diplomats, ‘The Diplomat.’ Though fictional and written months in advance, episodes are often eerily similar to real political events. Here, host Mercedes Stephenson speaks with one of the show’s writers.
