The William Bennett Bridge in Kelowna, B.C., is now open in both directions on Monday after being closed for about 11 hours due to an ongoing police incident.
Kelowna RCMP said that at 3:45 a.m., officers were called to the bridge after a person, believed to be in crisis, parked a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of the bridge.
That person is believed to have ignited a small fire in the vehicle before they were taken into custody, police said.

Photos from the scene showed that the vehicle is a Mr. Chill ice cream truck.
At about 2:18 p.m., Kelowna RCMP said the suspect vehicle was towed from the bridge with the assistance of the Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) which was called in to help.
The vehicle was examined by EDU who rendered the vehicle safe for transport, police said.
“This investigation remains ongoing and no further details will be provided at this time,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier, Kelowna RCMP media relations officer, said in a statement.
“I’d like to acknowledge and thank all of our partner agencies for coming together and working through this incident. Thank you especially to the public for understanding and remaining patient while this matter was resolved safely.”
